MOVDance is a nonprofit organization based in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, CA, founded by professional ballroom dancer Matt Hackney. It provides a hub for a community of local dance enthusiasts who thrive on celebrating and serving with dance. The organization’s primary goal is to implement dance as a way of enriching the lives of local children from low-income families, providing free ballroom dance lessons, varied fitness classes, dance shoes, and opportunities to travel to local and nonlocal dance functions. The MOVDance community is currently involved with the mothers and children of St. Vincent’s and the Braille Institute of Santa Barbara and offers dance lessons at the Montecito School of Ballet.
