After being misdiagnosed by numerous doctors, my stepfather had a heart attack that took his life while in his mid-40s. Perplexed by what had happened, at the age of 13 I researched his heart attack and started my journey into the world of health and fitness. Had this book been available at the time he was alive, surely he would’ve been able to help himself overcome the problem.
This book is a compilation of my years of success as a coach. I’ve used trial and error, logic and reasoning, science and innovation and sheer determination and sweat to help my clients achieve many successes. While each situation is unique, I’ve found common traits in every case. My method no longer needs trial and error. I bring to you a method that is consistent and that has been proven time and time again to help all walks of life lose weight and gain better health.
I’m excited to present this book in its finished form. I’ve accomplished many things in my life, but the daunting task of sitting down and putting my years of experience on paper didn’t come with much motivation. Having completed the book, I must say that this is not only one of my greatest successes, but also a great relief.
Now when I meet new clients who are always skeptical of my training and more so of my approach – I can refer them to this book – the one book which I feel truly captures every aspect of losing weight without any marketing schemes or ulterior motives. I am also pleased to know that there will be others who read this and make wonderful changes in their life even without any direct contact. I’m pleased to offer such a powerful message in a short read that is affordable to anyone determined to achieve success.
I hope this book empowers you to take over your life with a new perspective of control, discipline and happiness. The book is split into three distinct sections – Fuel, Oxygen and Spark. I feel these three are equally important in one’s success toward better health and provide a structured yet dynamic approach to overcoming health concerns that are faced today by many people. Even if you feel you’ve mastered nutrition, I urge you to read the Fuel section with just as much focus as you would the sections on Oxygen and Spark. I’ve addressed common mistakes seen in every walk of life – whether someone is new to fitness or is at the level of an Olympic athlete. Please take this into consideration when you feel you may already be familiar with the advice given in a particular section.
I titled this book “The Fire Within” because I really do believe we have a furnace in our bodies that is fueled by what we eat, how we exercise and how we think. It can be seen scientifically by measuring blood pressure, heart rate and metabolic rate. The flame can be felt in another person by physically touching their palm to actually feel their warmth – this is addressed in Chapter 1. It can also be felt within ourselves as our energy level increases. With just a few short weeks in my program you will become ravenous when you wake, will no longer need 10 layers of clothing in the office and you will have energy to last for days. These are all signs of the strong flame you’ll soon posess. I’ve seen its success too many times to doubt. You won’t doubt it, either, when you follow these simple steps.
